As much as I am always advocating that you follow your dreams and your passions, today I want to share with you the top 3 reasons why you shouldn’t quit your (high-paying but soul-crushing) job to live your dreams.
1. You shouldn’t quit your job because you have it all!
You’ve worked hard for it and now have a snazzy job title. It’s not that you really enjoy what you do but hey, you’re making great money, you have a fab place to call home.
But come on: who wouldn’t want that life?!!!
2. Why you shouldn’t quit your job: You’re not a quitter!
Quitters are pu**ies. And you’re not one!
You push forward, you go all the way, you give it everything you got!!
Even if you hate what you do and even if you feel completely off-track, you keep going because…
Well, because quitters suck and quitters are losers!!
3. You’re immortal
Judging from appearances, your time on this planet is infinite and you can afford to waste a lifetime or two doing something you couldn’t care less about.
This also explains why you’re not concerned about the epidemics of depression and suicide that affects ‘successful’ professionals like lawyers and bankers.
You’re different, you’re immune to all that…Why you should NOT to quit your job to live your dreams. Click To Tweet
Is this your dream, really?
Obviously, I am being facetious.
I’m not seriously encouraging anyone to stay in a soul-crushing job because of prestige or because that’s what’s expected.
That’s what society expects.
They have become oblivious to their own dreams and their real purpose simply for the benefits of receiving a few pats on the back in the form of a cool title, a more or less substantial financial compensation or a new promotion (which often means more hellish work…).
I’m not seriously encouraging anyone to stay in a soul-crushing job because of prestige or because that’s what’s expected. That’s what society expects. Not me!!
Your life, your definitions!
The truth is success is something you define for yourself, not society.
Who says success is a owning huge house? Why can’t it be living simply on the beach in harmony with Nature or teaching yoga if that’s what you’re into?
Quitting does shows lack of character, but only when you quit on something you believe in, not when you quit on something that kills you and that you don’t even care about.
Then it’s called self-preservation!
And neglecting your health can seem normal when most people are propping their high-octane lifestyle with a diet of snacks and all sorts of (more or less legal) stimulants and downers.
But your body and your health are your most priced possessions. It’s the only vehicle you have to experience this life. There’s no second chance!

Back to the roots
My point is when things don’t add up in your life, it’s time to subtract.
Therefore that snazzy J.O.B that’s killing you may need to go at some point…
Now I’m not telling you to storm into your boss’s office and quit your job tomorrow. That would be stupid!
But I would like to encourage you to stop and think about ways you can live a more fulfilling and meaningful life aligned with your soul-purpose and your own dreams. And how to implement those changes at a safe and comfortable pace.
You are special, you are unique, you have a unique mission, a unique set of skills and unique set of gifts to share with the world.
What did you really come here to do? How about you go and do that?
If you’d like to explore how to do that, I’d love to hear from you.
